Brian Ormand, Board Member

Brian Ormand (Ormand Consulting, LLC) has over 30 years of experience in education and project management. He currently is the Project Manager for an NSF funded Cyber Infrastructure Training and Mentoring grant. His prior experience includes the creation and governance of multi-organization educational consortia. One example was designing a statewide virtual high school program to serve rural and underserved communities in New Mexico. This virtual school program was ranked 3rd in the nation in the Online Learning Policy in 2009 survey conducted by the Center for Digital Education.  In another example, he worked with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and the education sector to create community-wide “Work Readiness” strategies for youth entering the workforce. Before launching a consulting business, Dr. Ormand spent the lion share of his career at New Mexico State University, where he worked in educational technologies and teaching. For example, as Director of Instructional Innovation and Quality, he created one of the first national training institutes facilitating faculty adoption of learning management systems. Dr. Ormand has a doctorate in Educational Leadership, an MBA, and a bachelor degree in Business Systems Analysis. He has served on the various boards including the NM Coalition of Charter Schools, NM Council on Technology in Education, IDEAL-NM Founders Committee, Career Technical Leadership Program Advisory Board, and Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission. Brian is originally from Silver City, NM, where he met his wife of over 35 years, Julie, who is an expert in early childhood (helps her deal with him).  Brian has three great kids Hannah, Bethany, Zachary, and 3 wonderful grandkids.
