City of Albuquerque Economic Development, Workforce Connection of Central NM and Innovate+Educate hosting One ABQ Job Source Hiring Fair Friday, November 9 at NDI Hiland Theatre on Central Avenue to advance skills-based hiring across the region to ensure economic mobility for all

ALBUQUERQUE, NM– Today, Innovate+Educate and City of Albuquerque announced the One ABQ Job Source Hiring Fair to be held on Friday, November 9 at the Hiland Theatre from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Community based partners serving learners and jobseekers are invited to join the open house coffee from 8:30 to 10 a.m., providing an opportunity to network with employers and the community leaders. Hundreds are expected to receive job offers on the spot.

“The data continues to support the outcomes of a skills-based hiring event,” said Jamai Blivin, CEO of Innovate+Educate. “Our last ten years of pilots, projects and research validates that skills based hiring is more predictive than hiring under traditional methodologies, which weeds out many qualified candidates.”   Partners for the event include NM Department of Workforce Solutions and Workforce Connection of Central NM.  In addition, PNM Resources Foundation and Starbucks are sponsors of the event.

“Facilitating job growth in Albuquerque is a priority,” stated Synthia Jaramillo, Director, City of Albuquerque Economic Development. “With over 500 jobs available at our One ABQ Job Source hiring fair, we’ll be able to connect employers to a pool of talented, qualified candidates who just need the right opportunity.”

Tools and resources included with the One ABQ Job Source initiative include employers’ access to Core ScoreTM, a soft skills assessment validated to measure performance and competency on the job.  Candidates are asked to take the assessment either before the event or in the “Core ScoreTM lounge” which will be open at the event.  The assessment is an easy to use, mobile application that allows jobseekers and learners to learn about their skills and then connects them to training and credentials to advance their careers.   The event is an opportunity for those looking for a job, or for those looking for a better job.  Doors open at 10 a.m. for jobseekers.
